Very seamless edits great work thanks for posting
0:23 The caretaker music
Oh, my goodness, what exquisite singing! Thank you for posting.
Love this romantic ballad, beautifully sung by friend Ernest. Like the reference to 'Marconi Telegram' very modern for 1907.
Clearly covering for George Formby Senr. who appears to have had a contract with Jumbo, at the time of this recording. Harry Fay also covered for Formby Snr. as 'Herbert Forman' until Zonophone could secure the genuine guy. I hear 'ghost sounds' perhaps muffled conversation at 2:00, whilst the orchestra plays between verses.
Thank you! I've been looking for this for decades. I remembered the undertaker verse (not word perfect, it seems, but near) and chorus, but that was it.
Glad I could help!
Love the recordings of the Gramophone and Typewriter label i have a few but not these the black G and T of music hall are quite rare .
Thanks for this one!
Who is singing?
Oh ho ho, so wonderful
Despite the primitive quality of the sound and the malfunction audio, this lovely song was beautifully performed by John Harrison. Was he a recitalist?
Another lovely rarity.
A fine performance of this lovely old song. "Laurie"
Thank you for posting this well-known rarity. Santley's performance of this old song is so characterful !
You actually got a disc by Santley? I am so jealous! And so happy!
This is my second and I think I may have another one from Stephen. If I find a dupe you'll be first to know about it! I just bought literally a couple of hundred g and t's. They weren't cheap but they had my name all over them, at a random auction house! Keep your proverbial eyes pealed!
@@RobertGodridgesEMGchanne-tm9mi I most definitely will, and thank you in advance!
Where did you get this jawg lawg blawg dawg mawg
Sounds more german than english to me! (At least in the beginning)
How'd you come across this record? I saw your video in my recommended and was surprised to see that this song is nowhere but here!
Probably eBay or donations from people who can't/shouldn't keep them
A scratchy one....but a good song!
Great Australian bass, under-rated and something of a wasted talent due to his association with Hilliam (Flotsam & Jetsam).
Lovely.
Thank you for posting these wonderful rarities for us! So much of great musical value in recordings that never were very well known. It is astonishing that so many have survived for more than a century, given that they were never "best sellers".
A lovely recording and surely one of Evan Williams' finest recorded performances.
What a splendid recording this is ! Peter Dawson demonstrates the full range of his voice as well as some delightful ornaments. Thank you for posting this. From Australia.
A lovely song, sensitively sung.
FAntastic
Very late Berliner Gramophone (rec June/July 1902 at London) All piano recordings at London were pitched at A=452 Hz until Melba recordings (20 Oct 1904)
A beautiiful piece of work!
Żydowski Caruso
Are these communist Topic 78 records suitable to play on a orthophonic wind-up gramophone?
OMG It's - I think - the only recording of an extract from this opera. Do you have other extracts or is it really the only one ?
What a great record!
Steeleye Span covered this (worthily)
I love how American's portray Mose as silly and funny and the British portray him as genuinely sinister
One of the finest hot recordings of the 1930s..What a terrific band this was
Jack at his best! Great tune.
This record it’s not in the best condition however the recording is outstanding for the time although at that time there were a lot of great sonically recordings what I wanna say is sonically great recordings so cool thank you for posting on so great tune
Hello there, I heard this on a British film I was watching. Can you give me any information about it please? Regards Andy
hello! in an antique shop account I saw a record branded his masters voice, I liked the song but I couldn't find it. can you help me find it?
She took the high road and I took the slow road and twain ever my true love and we shall meet again as I have seen the bonnie banks of heaven afore thee....where the broken heart it yearns for the second spring again, in the purple hue that we shall view, as in your place you'll stand right beside me....
He was undoubtedly one of the most talented and gifted members of the musical profession.
FAntastic
Love Debroy Somers…great stuff.
Such a great song…great job here by Jack Payne and his group…
Love Jack Payne…one of my top fave Brit dance bands.
Fine.
Recorded at The New Gallery cinema on Regent Street in London. The building is now a Habitat store, the little Wurlitzer organ is still there and is maintained in playing condition.
I've got this record.
!Bellisimaaaa música! 😊
!Wow. Que belleza de sonido nostálgico! Esto si es música. 😊
He played the first concert ever at the Hollywood Bowl 1922
